LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Linn County is taking steps to prepare local emergency responders for the restart of the Duane Arnold Energy Center while another major energy project moves through the county’s approval process.
The Linn County Board of Supervisors discussed an agreement between Linn County Emergency Management and the Marion Fire Department that would give Marion firefighters a role in the county’s radiological emergency response plan.
Under the agreement, Marion Fire would provide nine trained radiological monitors. Personnel could also assist with contamination control, emergency worker monitoring, decontamination and the use of radiation-monitoring equipment.
