AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – After a couple days break from heavy rainfall, we’re now looking at another stretch of heavy rainfall and flooding concerns beginning as soon as overnight Monday into Tuesday.
Right now, a significant portion of the Newschannel10 region is underneath a Flood Watch, either until late Tuesday, or midday Wednesday.
Tropical moisture will begin to move in thanks to a boost from Hurricane Polo down on the Baja Peninsula. This is injecting a huge boost in potential rainfall, and pairing it with an incoming system, the possibility of high rainfall totals is very high.
As we’re well aware, this is right on the heels of some places seeing anywhere from several inches to over a foot of rain last week.
This will make the risk of flash flooding very high, as places that are still reeling from recent rains will not be able to absorb new moisture, creating new runoff.
