Questions surrounding company in fatal school van crash

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – Five days after a school transportation van crashed into a traffic light in Cahokia Heights resulting in the death of a teenager, questions remain about the company that was transporting the students.

The crash happened on Highway 15 at Pocket Road. The van was operated by MVP Transportation, a medical transportation company. Zer’Real Hinds died in the crash, and seven other people were hospitalized. Hinds was 17.

According to Belleville Township High School District 201’s annual Statement of Affairs for the fiscal year ending in June 2025, the district paid MVP Transportation $99,000. The district confirms it has paid MVP Transportation $385,000 for services since 2022…
