A sheriff’s deputy conducting thermal drone training in Colorado Tuesday night captured an “unexpected wildlife documentary” near a local school.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Mike Frank was conducting a thermal drone training flight Tuesday, “late at night and away from any homes, so we can practice without disturbing residents.” The thermal video captured four mountain lions “playing” near Nederland Middle/Senior High School.
The video shows the mountain lions gathering and running among a stand of trees near the school’s football field.
The sheriff’s office said the incident took place late at night with no people around, but still put out reminders for residents who may encounter a mountain lion, including giving them space and allowing trained responders to handle sightings.
