Altman named chair of Akron Children’s board

Akron Children’s mission had resonated with Louis Altman for quite some time. Not only does the Canton native love children and wants to ensure every youth is happy and healthy, but he is also passionate about the Northeast Ohio community.

So, joining the Akron Children’s Foundation board of directors and Akron Children’s board of directors was a natural fit for the 57-year-old Altman, and he was named the chair of the foundation’s board in September 2025.

“I never got on the board to be board chair, but when you get asked, it’s hard to say no,” Altman told the Akron Jewish News. “So, you step up and you do it. I love the vision of the hospital, which is that Akron Children’s will be the most trusted, inclusive and accessible pediatric health system in the communities we serve, and I love our promise that we’re going to treat every child as we would our own, treat others as they would like to be treated and, my favorite, turn no child away.”…
