Former MBTA worker pleads guilty to faking Red Line inspections

BOSTON (WPRI) — A former Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority worker accused of falsifying Red Line track inspections has been convicted of federal charges, according to U.S. Attorney Leah Foley.

Jensen Vatel, 42, of Brockton, pleaded guilty to a number of federal charges last week, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, aiding and abetting the falsification of records and aiding and abetting false statements.

Vatel, who used to work for the MBTA as a track inspector for the Red Line, was formally charged back in May 2025 alongside four other former employees.
