Hudson County sheriff’s officers returned to the county board of commissioners to again plead for intervention in finding a place for officers to park in Journal Square amid what they describe as non-stop ticketing and towing.
The topic first arose after sheriff’s officers approached the board at an earlier meeting in September, calling attention to the lack of parking in Journal Square and the myriad of tickets and tows their vehicles have been subject to.
Then on Thursday, Board Chair Anthony Romano (D-5), a retired Hoboken police captain, suggested including a stipulation that the construction of Courthouse Park include parking for those officers.
“I’d like to bring a motion that there be consideration in discussions, if it turns out that we’re going to be bearing the brunt of the cost for the remediation and demolition, that there be somehow there there be some kind of opportunity to have some kind of parking for the sheriff’s department,” he suggested…
