Pawtucket, R.I. — A Pawtucket City Council committee declined on Wednesday to send the proposed three-year teachers’ contract to the full council with a recommendation, according to the Pawtucket City Council’s published meeting recording. Instead, the council member leading the Finance Committee discussion proposed that the School Committee bring back a one-year deal, retroactive to Sept. 1, while years two and three are worked out.
No vote was taken on the contract. As the item closed, a speaker noted, “It’s a proposal. It’s not a motion.”
