Cicero, N.Y. — Earlier this month, officials in Cicero passed a local law that gives their police officers a new tool against reckless e-bike and e-scooter riders.
If users repeatedly ignore the rules — by riding on sidewalks, going too fast or cutting off traffic — police in some towns can seize the bikes and scooters as they issue a ticket.
In some cases, offenders in Cicero can now face fines, starting at $100 and escalating to $500. Anyone who flees an officer faces having their bike or scooter seized and will have to pay a $250 fine to get it back…
