NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The man who oversees New Orleans’ low barrier homeless shelter said Monday that closing it would strip resources away from nearly 300 people who live there.
At a budget meeting with the New Orleans City Council earlier this month, city officials proposed slashing $5 million in next year’s budget for its self-funded homeless shelter. Councilmember Lesli Harris said the proposed cuts would mean shutting the shelter down entirely.
