Storm uncovers possible remnants of ship that wrecked on path from New Orleans to Boston in 1800s

A powerful storm that hit much of the East Coast with high winds and flooding over the weekend uncovered what experts believe are the partial remnants of a ship that wrecked on its way from New Orleans to Boston in the 1800s.

The Nantucket Current reported that the nor’easter eroded portions of the Massachusetts island’s south shore and revealed what appears to be a fragment of the Warren Sawyer, a wooden schooner that wrecked near Miacomet Beach nearly 150 years ago. The remnants were spotted Saturday near where sections of the 19th-century ship were uncovered in December 2022 and early 2023, according to the Current.
