Kennady L. Simmons, who lists a Chillicothe address, was charged in Caldwell County after authorities alleged she damaged a door and wall at the Caldwell County Detention Center on March 13, 2026.
According to court documents, Simmons had been released from the detention center at approximately 1:55 p.m. when she entered the visitor hallway. Detention center Warden Mr. Smith told investigators that Simmons was upset because she believed her free telephone call had been cut short, her cellphone battery was dying, and the facility did not have a charger for her phone.
Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy Tina Vessar reported reviewing video showing Simmons later using both hands to push open a set of doors into a wall, causing two dents and damaging the automatic door system. The door reportedly had to be pushed or pulled shut after the incident…
