AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — West Plains residents gathered at a community meeting on Monday evening to get answers about PFAS contamination and what officials are doing about it.
According to the Washington State Department of Ecology, groundwater tests showed unsafe PFAS levels in many private residential wells near Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane International Airport. The contamination was tied to historical use of specialized firefighting foam.
