AKRON, Ohio — Ohio has over 1,400 miles of designated bicycle routes. The Bike Shop, a local nonprofit in Summit County, is working to make sure everyone has a chance to earn their wheels. This year the organization passed a major milestone.
After four years of volunteering, Chris Usner became a staff member for The Bike Shop. It’s a program under South St. Ministries, a nonprofit community development organization in Akron.
“Every bike is earned,” said The Bike Shop director Chris Usner. “So, every individual that comes to the bike shop, they work on the bike themselves to learn how to fix the flat, work on the brakes, maybe rebuild a crank or tune a driller.”…
