Augusta committee tackles $80.9M bond plan, pool fixes and 2027 budget

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Augusta commissioners advanced an $80.9 million bond project list Tuesday to jump-start major voter-approved sales tax initiatives, while also reviewing a proposed $1.26 billion budget and setting a target reopening date for a South Augusta public pool.

$80.9 million SPLOST 9 bond list recommended

The committee moved toward recommending approval of a project list funded by general obligation bonds for the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST 9).

Voters previously approved the overall sales tax and authorized the city to borrow up to $80.9 million to begin projects ahead of tax collections.
