Senior housing planned along Division Avenue in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An affordable housing developer is looking to add 40 units of senior housing in Grand Rapids.

Kentucky-headquartered Volker Development plans to construct the four-story building at 1001 S. Division Ave. south of M.L.K. Jr. Street, according to Grand Rapids Planning Department documents. The project would include amenities like a patio, a fitness room and a new surface parking lot with 20 spaces.

A three-story, 9,700-square-foot building from 1930 currently stands on the site, according to online records. The property was previously listed for sale for $975,000 and is currently under contract, Joe Rizqallah with Signature Associates confirmed to News 8.

The property was most recently sold for $815,000 in 2022, online records show.
