WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach County commissioners approved a $26 million deal Tuesday for a second hotel beside the county convention center, betting that 400 more rooms will help attract larger events and bring more spending downtown.
The commission voted 6–1, with Commissioner Gregg Weiss opposed.
Related Ross, the developer behind CityPlace and the existing Hilton West Palm Beach, would build and operate the new hotel. The county would acquire the completed hotel and land, then lease the property back to the developer.
