When a movie or video game release gets delayed, it’s usually an indication that something’s wrong. But when a restaurant blows past its targeted opening, it’s just an average week.
Licensing and inspection delays are commonplace. Construction delays are as well, which anyone doing any kind of home remodel knows all too well. In fact, when the rare new restaurant does open in a matter of months, that’s newsworthy in and of itself.
Still, only two restaurants left over fro our most anticipated summer list have yet to open, and in fairness, only one had even projected a summer opening date. As we head into fall/winter, here are those we are anxiously awaiting a first look at before the end of 2026.
