Hopefully, sooner rather than later, Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland could again see airline use, as it has added new technology to the airport.
What is the New Technology Added to FNL in Loveland, Colorado?
Currently, the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL) uses a 10-foot tower, while it awaits installing a traditional 120-foot tower. You may recall they were part of a “remote tower” program, where folks sitting in Longmont were controlling the air traffic for Loveland; they stopped using that in early 2026. The new technology from uAvionics, improves what airport personnel can “see” when it comes to air traffic.
The technology uAvionics’ FlightLine Airborne Position Reference Tool is real-time aircraft tracking which highly improves situational awareness. From a press release from FNL, Dylan Swanson, FNL’s Operations Manager:
This technology gives our airport staff and air traffic controllers another tool to better understand what is happening in and around the airport in real time. It is an important step as FNL continues to grow and prepare for the future.
Improved Technology Could Lead to Airlines Returning to Loveland
