CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Cincinnati Public Schools is facing a new warning from the state about its finances as voters prepare to decide a critical tax levy that district leaders say is needed to avoid deep cuts.
The district has been placed under what’s known as “fiscal caution,” a designation that signals the Ohio Department of Education is concerned about CPS’ financial situation. District officials said if the issues are not corrected, the state could ultimately assume control over Cincinnati Public Schools.
Superintendent Shauna Murphy says they have to look at cutting $44 million now, even if the levy passes, to be ready to file a required report with the state by Nov. 30. (WKRC)…
