A small stray dog gave workers at Naples Airport in Florida a run for their money after he was spotted dashing across the tarmac in the second week of September 2026. Colton Murray, a mortgage loan officer whose workplace overlooks the airport, caught the chase on video. “I see a tiny dog running across the tarmac, and probably about three or four people chasing him,” Murray said. “Then I see more people coming, and I was like, ‘Oh, this is hilarious, I’ve got to video this.’”
The chase, which involved airport employees in golf carts along with a pickup truck and an SUV, was eventually successful, and the dog was safely caught and handed over to Collier County Domestic Animal Services. Since he had no microchip, he had to complete a mandatory two-day stray wait in case his owner came looking for him. “Since he didn’t have a microchip, he had to complete his mandatory 2-day stray wait while we hoped his family would come looking for him,” animal services said. Officials never determined how he ended up on airport grounds or who was responsible for him beforehand.
Meanwhile, Naples resident Yvonne Worrel saw video of the chase online and initially assumed the dog had escaped from a passenger’s travel crate. She and her husband, Cameron, later visited the county animal shelter without realizing the airport dog was being housed there, and shelter staff explained where he’d come from, prompting the couple to recognize him from the video.
