The College will station two Massachusetts Environmental Police officers at Haley Farm to enforce prohibitions on trespassing and alcohol during Mountain Day this year.
Since October 2023, Mountain Day has culminated in a celebration with student music performances at Haley Farm, which is located in the Mount Greylock State Reservation (MGSR), and has been on state-owned land since 1990.
According to Director of the Williams Outing Club (WOC) Ben Oliver, the farm is private but the owners have granted a right of way for hikers and those exploring the Berkshires to hike on the grounds. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts monitors the relationship between the farm and the trailhead, and issues the College a permit to use the farm on Mountain Day each year…
