NOTABLE TRANSACTIONS: Water utility buys land in Dallas County for $2.6 million

Central Iowa Water Works, the Des Moines area’s regional drinking water authority, has acquired over 180 acres near Van Meter where it plans on building a $155 million water treatment facility.

The water utility paid Knapp Abel Bluffs LC $2.6 million for the land located on the north side of the Raccoon River, just northeast of Van Meter, Dallas County real estate records show. The land is primarily farm ground.

The plant, which is expected to be operational by 2032, would provide Central Iowa Water Works with an additional 12 million gallons per day of water treatment capacity…
