GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Fall foliage in Green Bay has reached about 20% color progression, according to Travel Wisconsin’s fall color report. Peak vibrancy is predicted for the fourth week of October.
Tracking the progression
Travel Wisconsin’s interactive color report had 1.4 million visitors last year. The report relies on more than 100 volunteer reporters across Wisconsin’s 72 counties to track color progression, and it measures color change on a scale similar to a progress bar.
Hannah Wickstrom is the only color spotter for Brown County. She drives through areas including Algoma, Denmark, Pulaski and Howard-Suamico to send in reports on color vibrancy.
“I really just look at the trees. I see where the progression is changing from the greens to the reds, yellows, and reds, how far we’re going to be until we hit the peak. And then I determine what percentage we are from where we’re at until the day I predict the peak is going to happen,” Wickstrom said…
