Lagoon’s new 2027 coaster will be the first of its kind in the U.S.

FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) — Lagoon has dropped another nugget of information, previewing the new rollercoaster that is set to debut next year.

In a new press release, park authorities say the coaster “will be the first launched single-rail coaster in the United States.” They also say the ride will be the first multi-launch coaster at Lagoon, and the first roller coaster from Intamin, a company known for its amusement rides.

The Liechtenstein-based company was founded in 1967 and is known for designing rides that are ‘out-of-the-ordinary’. Some of their work in the U.S. includes the VelociCoaster at Universal in Orlando, the Wicked Twister at Cedar Point, Ohio and the Giant Drop at Six Flags Great America in Illinois.

About the new ride

Park authorities say the new ride will feature a unique single-file seating configuration that positions riders directly above the track for a “cockpit” sensation. It is also designed to deliver an immersive, high-intensity experience in a compact footprint.

Authorities say the narrow track profile will allow for tighter turns while promising to deliver “an impressive combination of launches, airtime and inversions.”
