Area students outpace state in math, science

McKenzie Valley students attend several schools that outperformed statewide averages in English language arts, mathematics and science during the 2025-26 school year, according to newly released Oregon Department of Education data.

The results arrived as Oregon students overall posted a second consecutive year of improvement in all three subjects. Statewide proficiency increased 1.4 percentage points in math, 0.8 points in English language arts and 0.6 points in science.
