Brother, sister conspired in plot that led to shooting of off-duty Las Vegas corrections officer, warrant says

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police used surveillance video from several sources, custody dispute and restraining order documents, searches of confiscated cell phones, internet search records, clothing comparisons and corroborating information from North Las Vegas police.

But in the end, it was a call from a suspect’s mother that tied up the loose ends in the investigation of a Las Vegas shooting that sent an off-duty Metro corrections officer and his girlfriend to the hospital.

Maria Ramirez telephoned a Las Vegas detective after Guadalupe, her 48-year-old daughter, told her that Agustin, her 51-year-old son, was the one who shot Blane Dereis, according to a Metro warrant document. Dereis was shot in the torso and his girlfriend was grazed by a bullet when shots were fired by a man riding an e-bike past their vehicle at about 8:43 p.m. on Sept. 21…
