CLEVELAND (WJW) — A Brecksville man has pleaded guilty to a phony investment scheme through which he defrauded victims in Ohio and Florida for more than $3 million, nearly half of which he spent gambling at casinos, according to prosecutors.
John E. Brown II, 45, of Brecksville, pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday, Sept. 29, to 17 counts of wire fraud and two counts of engaging in a monetary transaction in criminal proceeds, according to a news release from David Toepfer, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Between May 2020 and May 2024, Brown sold the would-be investors on what he claimed were bundled admission tickets for sporting events or theme parks, according to the release. He called them “rolling code ticket packages.”
