At the Sept. 16 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, council approved the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority taxiway A and parking garage reduction security and escrow request presented at the Sept. 2 council meeting. The security cost estimate is in the amount of $1,416,430.95 and the amount of escrow is $50,000.
The parking and walkway project builds a new multilevel structure providing 1,000 additional parking spaces directly across from the main airport terminal. The pedestrian walkway features an elevated, covered and climate-controlled pedestrian bridge connecting the garage directly to ticket counters and security.
Funding for the airport development is backed by state grants that include $1.3 million from the Commonwealth Financing Authority and a $2 million federal grant for elevators and escalators. The project’s completion is expected to occur during late 2028…
