COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus police officer was hospitalized after a head-on collision with a vehicle being chased by state troopers.
According to Columbus police, an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser was following a light-colored sedan at 1:38 a.m. in the Franklinton area and CPD was called in to assist tracking the vehicle. A high-speed chase ensued and at the intersection of West Broad Street and North Central Avenue the sedan crashed into a CPD cruiser.

The officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive, police said, while two suspects were arrested at the crash site. Charges are unknown at this time.
Both the sedan and police cruiser sustained heavy damage to the front ends of each vehicle.
