LAFAYETTE, La. (KALB) – Pieces of hair and a few small hand bones of Servant of God Charlene Richard have been returned to the Diocese of Lafayette from Rome.
Charlene Richard died in 1959 at only 12 years old after a brief battle with leukemia. She has been recognized across Louisiana for her great faith and bravery in the face of death.
Charlene is called a “Servant of God” – one of the steps towards becoming an official canonized saint within the Catholic Church. In this stage, she is formally recognized by the church, and the process is underway to review aspects of her life and how after death, she may continue to impact others…
