17-year-old struck by car in East Greenbush hit-and-run; police search for vehicle

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The East Greenbush Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a 17-year-old pedestrian and a motor vehicle that took place Wednesday evening. Police say it happened at about 7:21 p.m. on Columbia Turnpike in the area of Discovery Drive.

According to East Greenbush police, an investigation has determined that the 17-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. Authorities say the vehicle is believed to be a red SUV that was last seen traveling westbound on Columbia Turnpike toward the City of Rensselaer.

Police say the 17-year-old suffered a laceration to the arm and no serious injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist detectives in identifying the vehicle or its operator is asked to contact the East Greenbush Police Department at 518-479-2525. Additionally, anyone who may have dash-camera footage, residential surveillance video or other relevant video from around the time of the incident is asked to contact the department.
