MEDINA — Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority celebrated the opening Wednesday of supportive housing, The Lafayette, for people facing housing crises.
Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority Executive Director Tom O’Connell said The Lafayette continues the work started with the creation of Medina County’s emergency housing shelter, Next Step Up. Referrals for The Lafayette will come through the housing authority’s emergency housing team and its prioritization process.
“The emergency housing team will then refer those households to our housing choice voucher team to determine eligibility for the subsidy that will be on each unit here at The Lafayette,” he said. “Then once eligibility is determined, they will be then referred to our housing team to sign their lease and begin the move-in process.”…
