Over the past decade, Gerrald Beaven constantly dreamed of what the empty lot next to his home in the Ville neighborhood could be. He hoped more families would move in or more local businesses could populate the land. However, the quarter-of-an-acre plot is now a small park, also known as a pocket park, for the community.
4theVille, an organization that preserves the Ville neighborhood, has restored the land and created Lincoln Market Park, a space for movement, leisure activities, business meetings, community gatherings and viewing public art.
Beaven said the park will help young people in the area gain pride in their community and show them that new life is on its way…
