A 58-year-old woman is dead. A man is in the hospital. And a child got out through a back window before the flames took over.

According to WYFF4, the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at a home on LeAnn Drive in Pickens County, South Carolina, right in the middle of the night, when most people are sound asleep and have the least chance of surviving.

What Happened on LeAnn Drive

The Easley Fire Department responded to a heavily involved structure fire and immediately began both fire suppression and search operations. It took roughly 40 minutes to bring it under control.
