Villager knocked from golf cart after crashing into tree on multi-modal path

A Villager was knocked from her golf cart after crashing into a tree on a multi-modal path that intersects with busy traffic.

The 75-year-old woman was driving a blue Yamaha golf cart at about 11 a.m. Thursday on the multi-modal path that runs along the roundabout at Morse Boulevard and El Camino Real near the Morse North Gate when she failed to negotiate a curve, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

She ran over the outside curb, where the front of the golf cart collided with a tree. The impact knocked her from the vehicle.

She was transported as a trauma patient by a Villages Public Safety Department ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center. FHP noted that it was not clear if the crash was caused by careless driving or a medical episode.
