CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts residents searched more for agoraphobia than any other fear over the past year, according to a new study analyzing Google search data.

A study conducted by BudPop found that agoraphobia, the fear of being trapped or in situations where escape may be difficult, generated 114,230 searches in Massachusetts during the past 12 months, making it the state’s most-searched phobia.
The study analyzed Google search data for 166 different fears between 2025 and August 2026. Researchers ranked fears based on search volume, including searches related to symptoms, causes and treatment.
Trypophobia, the fear of holes or patterns of holes, ranked second in Massachusetts with 105,400 searched, followed by emetophobia, the fear of vomiting, with 57,680 searches…
