Severe storms spur scattered outages across Austin, Cedar Creek, Leander

A strong storm system has barreled into the majority of Texas, leaving some in the Austin area without power on Thursday, October 1.

How many power outages are in Austin?

According to the Austin Energy outage map, as of nearly 2 p.m. on Thursday, 12 active outages are affecting 404 customers in Austin.

The largest outage underway currently is in the Great Hills area of Northwest Austin with approximately 115 customers affected. Austin Energy crews are working to resolve the outages, with an estimated restoration time around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Power outages hit Leander, Cedar Park outside of Texas capital

Power outages have been reported in and around the Leander and Cedar Park areas on Thursday afternoon, with an estimated 32 outages and 337 meters affected just before 2 p.m, Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc.confirmed.

Among those impacted include some local businesses, with the Emergency Animal Hospital of Crystal Falls confirming they were experiencing a power outage alongside Central Texas College’s main campus. Crews have either confirmed, dispatched or are actively working at those sites to restore service…
