ALTOONA, Iowa — A Des Moines man has been charged with grooming for allegedly having sexually explicit conversations with someone he thought was a minor, but was really an Altoona police detective.
Theodore Miller, 61, was booked into the Polk County Jail Wednesday night on one count of grooming, a class D felony. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

A criminal complaint states that Miller contacted a detective with the Altoona Police Department, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl on social media. Police said Miller had sexually explicit conversations and encouraged the girl to join OnlyFans so she could make money. He also sent photos of his face during communications.
The complaint said that during interviews with law enforcement, Miller made statements linking himself to the conversation and provided the same phone number used during the exchange.
Miller’s next court appearance date is not yet listed in online court records…
