A New Orleans magistrate commissioner on Wednesday set bond at $1 million for a 21-year-old man accused of stabbing his grandmother to death, then throwing her body in a dumpster.
Justin Glyndell Henry Jr., 21, appeared in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court for the bond hearing more than a month after his grandmother, Denise Henry, 67, was reported missing. He allegedly confessed to the killing Tuesday and was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on a count of second-degree murder.
New Orleans police identified Denise Henry as a critical missing person after she disappeared from her apartment in the 5100 block of Bundy Road wearing a nightgown and without her medications, wheelchair, walker or wallet, according to an affidavit supporting Justin Henry’s arrest. A multiple sclerosis patient, Denise Henry depended on caretakers from her church and family.
Justin Henry had lived with his grandmother until July when she evicted him for stealing from her checking accounts, the affidavit states. On Aug. 20, Denise Henry told a caregiver that Justin Henry was coming by to do his laundry. That was the last time she was seen alive…
