SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department has closed an internal affairs investigation into how details of Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones’ home security measures were leaked to the media, with no officers disciplined, a department spokeswoman confirmed this week.
The investigation was announced last fall by then SAPD-Chief William McManus, after KSAT Investigates revealed that officers were assigned to protect the mayor at her home overnight.
A spokesperson for the mayor declined to confirm the scaling back of security and told KSAT via email, “Risk assessments and security protocols are determined by the San Antonio Police Department, therefore, we refer you to the Chief of Police.”…
