BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Fair is in its final days, and organizers are bracing for the biggest crowds of the year as the last weekend approaches.
The fair runs through Sunday, Oct. 4, and the final weekend is typically the busiest. “We’re expecting some huge crowds over the weekend,” said Chelsey Roberts with the Kern County Fair. “Following a payday, a little bit of warmer weather, but the last little bit of your last chance to catch the fair before it’s done for the year, we expect some pretty good crowds.”
The fair has been running since Sept. 23, and Roberts said attendance has been strong this year despite a slow start. With more people expected this weekend, Roberts said staffing is being increased on the grounds.
“We staff more, we know that there’s more people on grounds, we coordinate that with EPD for safety. We just, you know, our vendors bring on extra stuff, they’re stocking, they’re ready, we’re gonna have a great weekend,” Roberts said…
