Gypsy Rose Blanchard has made a heartfelt appeal for compassion as she mourns the sudden passing of Ken Urker, the father of her young daughter, Aurora.
In a recent interview, Blanchard opened up about Urker’s death and expressed her hope that, in time, their daughter will come to know her father for the loving man he was-beyond the negative portrayals and rumors circulating online.
“Ken loved our daughter, Aurora,” Blanchard shared, emphasizing her commitment to ensuring Aurora understands the depth of her father’s love. She also stressed the importance of Aurora knowing the true character of Urker, apart from the public scrutiny that shadowed their relationship.
Blanchard and Urker welcomed their daughter in December 2024, after reconnecting earlier that year. Their relationship began through a prison pen-pal program, leading to an engagement in 2018 before they eventually parted ways. They later reunited following Blanchard’s separation from her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson.
Tragically, Urker died on October 1, coinciding with his 34th birthday, at a home in Raceland, Louisiana. Authorities responded to an emergency call that evening and found Urker deceased upon arrival. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that his death is still under investigation.
Blanchard shared her belief that Urker’s death may have resulted from an overdose, though she is uncertain about the specifics of any substance involved or whether the overdose was intentional. She noted that he had been struggling with his mental state in recent times. Official cause of death has yet to be released.
Addressing the public attention Urker faced, Blanchard spoke candidly about the relentless cyberbullying the couple endured and the profound toll it took on him.
As she navigates her grief, Blanchard is asking for the focus to remain on the father Aurora knew and on the family left to mourn his loss.
“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” Blanchard said. “He will forever be my soulmate.”
