State awards $1.2 million to boost Erie city services

The City of Erie announced Thursday morning the state has awarded nearly $1.2 million dollars to support city services— an investment officials said is substantial compared to past grants.

Local legislators took to Harrisburg to advocate for the City of Erie. The money comes from the state’s local share account and is helping the city invest in public works and public safety.

Federal loans and PEMA grants opening for storm victims

“There’s very few times where we disagree when it comes to Erie. We all speak with one voice down there, and it’s been very effective in getting us the resources to bring back to the community, so mayor, keep on asking, and we’re gonna keep delivering,” said State Representative Bob Merski.

“We saw a huge need to invest in public safety and public works, with the September 2 storm and all of the budget cuts, we’re figuring out what is really important, and our representatives down there delivered for us,” said Dave Tamulonis, the Director of Grants for the City of Erie…
