Toledo man taken into federal immigration custody after 911 call for medical help

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – It started with a 911 call for medical help. It ended with a Toledo father of seven in federal immigration custody. Now, his 15-year-old daughter says when she asked police to see his arrest warrant, they refused.

The family is demanding answers and body camera video to find out what happened. Police are pushing back on parts of that account. They say Nazario Vazquez’s immigration status had nothing to do with their response or his later arrest, while his family argues the arrest ultimately put him on the path to federal custody.
