Wilmington City Council voted to increase the fine for reserving parking spaces in the city, but it’s still not clear why the ordinance’s sponsor felt the increase was needed.
City Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver’s ordinance to raise the civil penalty from $60 to $75 passed by a 10-3 margin, but she never answered multiple colleagues who asked how the $15 would be expected to change behaviors.
