Evansville Fire Commission fires EMS Supervisor after misconduct testimony

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Evansville Fire Merit Commission held a special meeting Friday and voted to fire EMS Supervisor Douglas Randell.

Background on suspension

Randell was suspended for five days without pay on Aug. 17. He was then placed on paid administrative leave. Chief Knight recommended his termination. Fire officials said Randell requested an appeal.

Testimony at the meeting

During the public portion of the meeting, it was revealed that Randell is accused of several incidents of sexual misconduct. The board heard from several women.

One employee testified she received inappropriate text messages from Randell. She said he texted her in the middle of the night “wanting to chat” and calling her beautiful.
