EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Vanderburgh County Fire Department can now give blood to patients with life-threatening bleeding before they reach the hospital. The program starts this week.

This is the first program of its kind in southwest Indiana.
Paramedics will carry blood on ambulances to treat trauma victims, mothers facing childbirth complications, or patients with severe internal bleeding.
