A U.S. Coast Guard boat crew medically evacuated a mariner with a head injury from a cargo ship on Tuesday.
The injury occurred when the mariner fell about five feet while aboard a vessel 5 miles offshore from the St. Johns River entrance.
Thanks to the great teamwork at Station Mayport, the evacuation went smoothly with local emergency services working hand in hand.
The personnel from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department helped Coast Guard crew members transfer the patient onto the Station Mayport response boat, ensuring everything went seamlessly and efficiently.
