Man Has Medical Emergency at Red Lobster, Then Cops Find Out The Truth

Some people just don’t want to pay their bill, but it’s particularly embarrassing when it’s at a chain restaurant like Red Lobster. One man in Georgia called 911 after having a medical emergency at the family-friendly eatery, but instead of receiving aid, officers went a bit deeper in their investigation than he would have hoped. The ridiculous part is that the man ended up having to go through a lot of trouble for something very small.

On September 25 at around 9:30 p.m., officers with the Douglasville Police Department in Georgia responded to a call placed by 26-year-old Abdul Hakeem Rasheed who said that he was having a medical emergency at a Red Lobster, according to a report by local outlet Douglas County Sentinel.

It’s unclear what Rasheed had ordered to make him feel suddenly ill enough that he had dial 911. But it didn’t take long before officers who had arrived at the popular seafood restaurant, located at 3100 Bill Arp Rd near Highway 5, became dubious and decided to check the man’s story for his supposed emergency. Upon further investigation, they found that Rasheed was actually find and that he was faking his sickness.

Even more embarrassing, police say the man had called 911 in order to get out of paying his bill, which amounted to only $63.77. (Perhaps he was just sick of the price tag?) Now, we understand that inflation is hitting Americans hard and the prices at casual-dining chain restaurants, like Red Lobster, Applebee’s, and TGI Friday’s, have increased quite a lot over the last year. But there’s really no excuse for wasting the officers’ time over a fake illness…
